A litte pricey, but well made and burns well

A little pricey, but very well made and slick looking. I dropped this in the top of a wooden sideways, so that when looking at the counter, the burners are left and right, not front and back. All in all, it burns very nicely and looks great.

It has a thermocouple, so you do have to hold down the knobs a little longer than expected… the flame must heat the sensor a little bit to stay lit, but once you understand and get past this, you just hold down the knob a little longer.

As mentioned in another review, the 2 knobs are a little close to the bigger burner, but I haven’t had any problems with this yet.

The burners are a little close together, so don’t plan on using a skillet on one burner and a pot on the other at the same time.

Good Buy at this price

I have this stove installed weeks ago, it might be too early to write a review about it. What I can say about it is so far so good. It’s quite, easy to clean, and best of all, the price! I use this one to replace the broken Jennair which cost me over $$$$.

I couldn’t tell any difference between them. the only thing I want to remind you that you need find a professional for installation. even the glass top are standard size, but the size of the bottom is larger than the expensive one, we have to trim our counter little bit more to push the stove in, which makes my husband upset.

NuWave PIC Pro High Powered Model Induction Cooktop

NuWave PIC Pro High Powered Model Induction Cooktop

The NuWave PIC Pro is comprised of a series of magnetic coils. These coils generate magnetic fields that produce a warming reaction in steel and iron based pots and pans. In this way, heat is generated in the cookware and not on the cooktop surface, which is much more energy efficient than traditional gas or electric ranges. Induction cooking is the most eco-friendly way to prepare meals because the method releases no toxins into the environment. Induction cooking emits no flame, so less residual heat is produced in your own kitchen. The cooktop remains cool to the touch where the magnetic surface is not activated.

Beauty and the Beast

I phoned NuWave for clarifications BEFORE I ordered via their website 11-14-2013. Their sales reps also confirmed I can simply pay all at once, which I preferred. I think some super-villain like Lex Luther designed their online ordering process. It made me feel like I was being challenged by a wily opponent, or running a cyber-gauntlet, but I read each succeeding question/offer carefully and ended up doing OK.
I went for their “BOGO” 2-cooktops-for-1 offer, and I opted to upgrade to the “PIC Pro” model. PIC PRO unit #1 base price was $129.94 ($24.99 more than the PIC2′s price of $99.99). S&H on that unit was another $29.95, for a total of $154.93. For PIC Pro unit #2, I paid a $24.99 `premium’ for getting the `pro’ version, and paid another $29.95 for S&H. Total cost of the 2nd unit was $54.94. So both Pro units cost a total of $209.87, or $104.94 apiece, including the S&H. I also went for the free “Complete NuWave PIC Cooking Package”. This introduced another $29.95 for S&H. The final charge against my credit card was $239.82.

The charge showed up Nov. 17th NuWave sent me prompt e-mail confirmation of my order, but I had to email them on Nov. 18 to request a UPS tracking number. They promptly sent me the tracking number, and the shipment arrived intact on the morning of Nov. 20th.
In a single 32-lb. box, I rec’d the two PIC Pro units (model #30301AR), and the cookware set (consisting of: a 9″ frying pan; a 10½” frying pan; a 10 ½” dia. x 3″ deep stainless steel pot; a 10½” dia. glass lid; a stainless steel steamer insert that can be used with the pot; a fondu-ring insert that can be used with the pot, and; eight fondu forks. I missed the fondu-thing in the 1970′s, looks like I now get a 2nd chance.

The frying pans are stainless steel on the outside, with a copper-colored, “Duralon” nano-ceramic non-stick coating inside. Their bottoms are almost ½” thick. The stainless steel pot also has the thick bottom (but has no non-stick coating inside). The glass lid fits either the 10½” pan or the 3″-deep pot and has a little steam-vent hole in it.
Each PIC PRO unit is about 12″ dia. x 2½” high, except it is 14″ dia. in the front area where the push-button controls are. The cooktop’s red circle is 6½” in diameter. The outer white ring is 9½” in diameter.

As I’ll describe better below, the unit’s induction coils seem to be centered beneath the red circle. All controls except `program’ (staged cooking) are EZ to figure out without the manual. A big, red LED displays your settings. Panel has six temperature presets: Low (100F); Med. Low (175); Med. (275); Med. High (375); High (425), and; Max. Sear (560F or above).

You select a preset, then adjust the temperature up-or-down in 5F degree increments to your desired setting. (The PIC2 limits your adjustments to 10F increments: the PIC Pro allows finer adjustments in 5F increments from 100F to 560F, for a total of 94 possible settings.)

Well made..

Bought this unit for home canning. Unit came with a nice heavy power cord, power indicator lite that shows when the heating element comes on and an easy to adjust temperature control knob.

I used this with my presto 23 qrt. canner and a 28 qrt. stock pot for heating my glass ware. It brought my canner to a boil in 13 minutes. Virtually the same as my stove top. I used a watt meter to track the current draw during use. It pulls 1425 watts and 12 amps.

Its advertised as 1500 watts so its missing 75 watts some where but I don’t think that small amount matters. Nice finish on unit which makes for easy clean up. Seems well made over all. I didn’t care for the hard plastic legs as it tended to slide around the counter top when placing or removing a pot. If I was going to change one thing, that would be it.

The whole unit tends to get hot but not unreasonably so since a wide pot forces the heat out around the bottom so it has to go some where. This is a nice addition to any kitchen weather for canning or just having an additional burner for cooking a large meal. I already ran it for many hours with no problems. Time will tell how it holds up in the long run.

Good Range

We just switched to gas so we needed a new cook top that was reasonably priced. This fit the bill. I love cooking with gas. One burner is made specifically for small pots (with a lower flame) which makes heating a small saucepan easy. My only complaint would be that the surface is a bit fussy. I used a sponge made for cleaning non-stick pans. I immediately realized it scratched the surface so I stopped. Other than that it’s a great cook top. Just be careful what you use to clean it with.

Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Bread Maker with Yeast Dispenser

Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Bread Maker with Yeast Dispenser, White

Features:

  • Mixes, kneads, rises, and bakes in 3 loaf sizes, up to 2-1/2 pounds
  • Settings for white, whole wheat, multigrain, French, quick breads/cakes
  • 13-hour delay timer makes meal planning easier
  • Includes recipes for 40 breads and doughs, plus baking tips
  • Product Built to North American Electrical Standards

Product Description

Providing myriad options, this automatic bread maker embodies the marvels of 21st century electronic convenience and choice. Yes, it mixes, kneads, rises, and bakes bread in three loaf sizes up to 2-1/2 pounds. But its digital controls go much further, offering settings for white, whole wheat, multigrain, and French (crisp crust, open texture) breads, each made according to what’s best for that particular style. Other settings permit rapid baking and baking sandwich bread with a soft crust. For raisin (or other dried-fruit) bread, a beeper signals when to add the fruit so it’s not crushed during kneading. Crust color–dark or light–can be selected as well.

The machine automatically adds yeast at the proper time from a dispenser on the unit’s lid. It also bakes non-yeast, quick breads– like banana and gingerbread–and sweet cakes. And it mixes, kneads, and rises doughs for pizza, focaccia, croissants, and other pastries without baking them. A timer permits the machine to be programmed up to 13 hours in advance so fresh bread or cake is available for breakfast or dinner. For cleanup convenience, the baking pan is nonstick. Clad in metal and packing 550 watts of power, the machine measures 14 inches wide, 13.5 inches high, and 9 inches deep. Its instruction booklet is exceptionally easy to understand and includes recipes for 40 breads and doughs along with an insightful guide to baking basics and illustrated tips for making pastries. –Fred Brack

Amazon Customer Review:

The Panasonic SD-YD250 is pretty much the state of the art in bread machine technology in mid-2003. It’s one of the larger units around with a 2.5 lb. loaf capacity. This size will also eat up your counter or cupboard space: you need just under 14″ of width and height, and 10″ of depth, so keep that in mind when you order. The bread consistency is excellent. It’s even pretty good in the “rapid” mode, though the results are a bit better in the standard bake mode so that’s what I generally use. Also, the “rapid” mode for whole wheat or multigrain bread is 3 hours (vs. 5 hours standard), so it’s not like you can start the machine at the beginning of a meal and expect completed bread before you leave the table. The fastest full cycle — “rapid” bake mode for white bread — is 1hr 55min.The SD-YD250 is quieter than most earlier bread makers; however, you’ll still hear the clicking and whirring as it mixes and kneads the dough. It’s a neat idea to wake up to the smell of freshly-baked bread but the machine isn’t quiet enough to run in the bedroom unless you’re a VERY sound sleeper. The options for this machine include the following:
o basic/rapid bake
o immediate start/timer delay
o white/whole wheat/multigrain
o sandwich (soft crust)
o crust color light/medium/dark
o raisin (pause and beep to add fruit or nuts)
o dough knead without bake
o bake without dough kneadNote that not all of these options can be combined. For instance: you only get crust color selection for white bread, and sandwich mode for white and whole wheat; multigrain bread always has a dark, tough crust (although the bread inside the crust is moist and well-textured)

Amazon Customer Review:

OK – I don’t usually write reviews, but I do read a ton of them and yes, some of them sound like they are written by manufacturers of the product while others sound like they may be from the competition. If you weed through enough of them though, you can basically get the down and dirty of what the product can and can’t do.

I am here to tell you what I found out.

I read a lot of reviews on numerous websites about this little product after seeing the infomercial on it. I never did the MagicBullet, but heard good things about it from some friends who owned one. After hitting the juice craze recently, I became quickly frustrated with the tossing out of all that good pulp which I was sure was being wasted and could be good nutrients for the body, just being tossed out. Prep time on top of that and the clean up was becoming quickly a chore. I am convinced on the benefits of fruits and veggies and to date have lost more than 50lbs since Jan incorporating juicing into my Weight Watchers routine.

OK – so I read a lot of reviews – when it came right down to it – the only real gripe I saw that people were having was this “leak” issue. For those that say this is just a blender – I would beg to differ – my fancy Cuisinart blender doesn’t pulverize seeds and coffee beans the way this thing does. Just try putting some small flax seeds in your blender with some fruit and tell me you get the smooth consistency that this little work horse puts out. OK – so it is more than a blender – now the overall:

Power: no problem – scared me a bit the first time I pushed down on it with it’s force, but was nice to know it does sound powerful. I have put carrots, ice, apples and seeds all at once in here and it comes out smooth as silk – no problem.

Amazon Customer Reviews:

I juice at least once a day as I primarily eat raw foods.

My Jack LaLane juicer finally wore out after 2.5 years of daily use. I was tempted to buy another – but I liked the way everything including the pulp catcher is all in one unit. So glad I got the Breville.

This thing is POWERFUL, especially compared to “Jack LaLanne”. It is so powerful I usually don’t even use the pusher except to cover the top so your ceiling doesn’t get covered with stuff. Other reviewers have mentioned that tendency. What wasn’t mentioned is that the reason it does that is because the motor is so beefy that stuff will shoot straight up.

When juicing soft stuff I immediately cover the top with my hand.

The design of this thing is absolutely first rate. Even down to the plug, which has a moulded loop so that it is easy to unplug and plug in! No tool is required to remove the basket, as in most other juicers. Breville uses a combo of ingenious design and magnets to hold it in place!

Ease of use and fit and finish is perfect.

Clean up is really a 2 minute operation and I don’t even own a dishwasher. It will stain eventually, as every juicer I have ever owned does. Carrot juice would make a great dye :-)

The pulp on this juicer is a bit wetter than the Jack LaLanne. The “Jack” had a much larger basket and a much slower rotation. I believe that may account for it. But it isn’t much wetter – just very slightly.

This juicer makes much smaller pieces of pulp though – and my experience so far has been that it gets just as much juice from a pound of carrots.

Bottom line – I can’t imagine anyone not loving this unit.

UPDATE 3/26/2011 This thing is still going strong 3.5 years later. Folks I buy carrots by the 25 pound bag so I am HARD on juicers. And not one part has needed replacement!

Amazon Customer Review:

I love espresso, and this little baby makes a great cup. Here are a few points that might be useful for you to know:

Good points:
*It doesn’t take up too much room on the counter and looks nice with it’s silver metal accents.
*The water reservoir is a good size, you can make about 8-10 shots before you need to refill it, which is very easy to do, and there is a clear section behind the basket which shows the water level.
*Fast heat-up time (only about a minute), good frothing wand, no wait time between frothing and brewing (though you do have to wait a little between brewing and frothing).

Be warned:
*Frothing wand is only 3 1/4 inches from the counter top. Not a big deal, I just went and bought a frothing cup that is about that height.
*Distance from grounds basket to tray is only 2 1/2 inches, I usually use a small espresso cup.
*Built-in tamper sucks, buy a good metal one.
*You don’t end up with a nice dry puck, the grounds basket is a watery soup after your espresso is made, so I dump it down the disposal.
*You will end up drinking more espresso than you mean to, it’s that good!

Seriously, I chose this machine after a lot of online researching, and decided on this one based on its outstanding reviews and great price. What led me to it were the reviews of another DeLonghi, the EC140B, which is an older and less attractive model, but had reviews from people who had owned theirs for 6 and 10 years! I’m hoping that this one will have the same longevity.
